ABOUT

Artistic Journey

Katherine’s artistic journey is rooted in a lifelong devotion to drawing as both refuge and self-expression. From childhood, art offered comfort and clarity—hours were spent following early YouTube tutorials and sketching cats inspired by the Warrior Cats novel series, later evolving into detailed studies of horses and wolves. While experiments with painting and clay never fully resonated, colored pencils became a constant medium—one that consistently drew Katherine back through every phase of growth.

During middle school, this passion intensified. Immersed in both in-school and external art classes, Katherine explored graffiti art, charcoal drawing, oil painting, and acrylics through rigorous summer intensives. Supported by exceptional teachers and a well-funded arts program, technique was refined and confidence nurtured—driven equally by intrinsic fulfillment and external encouragement.

High school marked both certainty and struggle. Knowing art was the calling, Katherine balanced up to four art classes per semester while pursuing advanced compositions at a local art college. Experimentation flourished across oil, acrylic, ink, and mixed media works that often combined five or more materials. Yet social pressures and uncertainty quietly diminished nightly sketching. By senior year, fear outweighed recognition—concerns about financial stability led to a pivot toward environmental science and English in college. Though creatively fulfilling and intellectually rich, the choice was ultimately shaped by caution rather than conviction.

Now in 2025, two years post-graduation, Katherine’ returns with clarity and resolve. After growing professionally in the retail space and relocating from Texas to Los Angeles to New York, the decision was made to fully embrace art once more. Testing the waters through Etsy with wedding stationery sparked a turning point—one that led to leaving a traditional job to pursue art full time. MADE IN APRILE represents this culmination: a fearless return to passion, transforming lived experience, perseverance, and intuition into meaningful visual narratives that invite viewers to feel, reflect, and linger.

Katherine’s work seeks to reveal her inner world—one rich in love, tenderness, and moments of deep tranquility—while acknowledging the quieter undercurrents of self-doubt and fear that linger beneath the surface. Through recurring symbolism of swords, wolves, unicorns, rabbits, and flowers, she explores the contrasting parts of herself that vie for her attention: softness and strength, innocence and protection, vulnerability and resolve. These motifs act as emotional markers, allowing her to navigate inner conflict with honesty and care, and inviting viewers to recognize the coexistence of beauty and uncertainty within themselves.
